Went to a great Italian restaurant in Allston tonight called Carlo's. It's a little hole in the wall kind of place but the food is great and the atmosphere is that kind of fun Tuesday-night neighborhood Italian which is really great. It's down to earth, warm, and just nice (something that's hard to find in Harvard Square). My trip to Carlo's (the second in about a month) has again left me impressed not just with it but with Allston in general. There are a ton of cool places, Common Ground, Big City, Sunrise, and a few others that offer the kind of neighborhood pub feel that no place (don't even go the John Harvard's route) in Harvard Square offers. Allston feels like a real neighborhood and there are definitely alot more places to hang out and eat there than there are in Harvard Square.
